The Artists
Denise (owner) – I have been a store manager for 30 years for big box retailers. One of the best parts of the job was the opportunity to meet and work with some of the nicest and most passionate people. I’ve always loved connecting with the people; finding out their passions, dreams and what motivates them. This new path that I am taking allows me to continue doing that on a much broader scale. I’d love to have you come by, share a cup and get to know you. We can share stories on our love of pets, music, art and don’t get me started on my grand babies unless you’ve got time.
This is a different kind of “Paint and Sip”; I want to add some joy to your day…take a little of the stress off your shoulders and help you find your passion. Whether just sitting back listening to a favorite tune with a great cup of coffee, painting your pet and enjoying a glass of wine or creating a witches hat to decorate your home…we’re here to make a difference for you. One other thing I am passionate about is giving back to the community, every month we will be supporting causes that are near and dear to us. I’d love for you to be a part of it all!!
Petra – Art has been a part of my life since I was old enough to pick up a paint brush. It has been my dream to share that passion with others and inspire them to make art apart of their everyday lives.
I graduated with a BFA in painting from Tyler school of Art and am currently working towards a masters degree in Art Education. My focus has always been as an observational or representational painter. However I have explored just about every style, method and medium. I am a firm believer that art should evoke feeling in both process and result and therefore provides a wonderful therapeutic outlet. I’m excited to share that feeling with all of you.
Kathy –I enjoy painting and various arts & crafts projects. My talent comes from my mother Lillian…we had the same high school art teacher. I have been a Girl Scout leader for over 10 years now. I have helped young girls mature into young ladies. It will be nice to pass my talents onto other groups and organizations as well. Mt full-time job is at a very stressful call center, I come home stressed most of the time. Working at Arts & Carafes is giving me a way to release that daily stress and look forward to doing the same for all of you by gathering with friends and expressing your inner talent!
Bonnie –As an early childhood educator for twenty years, art and music were an essential part of my curriculum. I found that incorporating them into the children’s everyday activities increased their learning and motor skills. I have many craft ideas in my toolbelt, some of which have been published in “the Mailbox” a popular magazine for teachers. I enjoy working with children and have 5 grown sons and 2 grandchildren of my own.
Saya –I love all kinds of painting. I specialize in “ Asian theme”. My father was an art teacher. I took 3 years of art while still living in Japan. I have been a Girl Scout sub-coach for 3 years. When Denise told me that she wanted to open a paint studio, I knew I wanted to be apart of it and share my love of art.
Joan –I love “still life” watercolor of historic homes. As a commercial Artist, I studied watercolor but mostly loved designing on the Apple. I am looking forward to getting back into painting again. I owned my own business for years. Now that I am retired, I wanted a part-time job. I’ve known Denise for years and when I heard she was opening Arts & Carafes, it fit right into my passion and what I wanted to do at this point in my life.
Lisa –I have worked in retail for 21 years. I currently work for the Philadelphia school district. I enjoy creating signs out of wood pallets. I wanted to be a part of arts & Carafes because I enjoy helping people to learn how to do new things.
